TANK MANUFACTURING PROCESS

What are your tanks made from?
Fresh/Gray Water Tanks & fittings made from DOW NSF International NSF/ANSI Std 61 approved Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE) Resin this is an NSF Certified Material

Waste Tanks are made from the same material except it is recycled and has a hardener added to the material, this means we can not verify all the contaminants that could be in it so Gray or Waste Water use only.

Material cleans easily and glues do not stick to this material. Stain, Corrosion and Rust Resistant.
The fittings are not glued into the tanks, view below for how fittings are installed.

TANK USES & REFERENCE

What can your tanks be used for?
The Fresh/Gray tanks (white in color) can be used for Fresh or Drinking Water. These can be used in a multitude of applications from RVs, Food Vendors, extra water storage such as Tiny Houses and Overlanding. They can be placed inside or outside but will need to be braced and secured.

The Black/Gray tanks (black in color) are to be used for waste water only, do not use these for fresh or drinking water.

Do you have a list of what vehicles your tank fits into?
Do you know if other people have used this tank for_____?
What tanks do I need for _______ state to make a concession trailer?
We do not have a list of vehicles, uses or projects people have done with our tanks, please compare the specs of the tank with your application and determine if tank will fit your needs. Check with online groups that have your same vehicle to see where they have found tanks.
For food vendors you will need to check with your inspecting Health Department on rules and requirements.

To see the tanks in an easier format with measurements and fittings view our Water Tank List (located at the top of each page).

SANITIZE TANKS

We can make a custom tank
  • You would need to prepay to have a mold made this ranges from $9,000 and up, lead time can be 8 weeks or more.
  • You would need to place a prepaid PO of a qty of tanks per month/per year, your sales associate would confirm this number, before the mold would be made.
  • You can fill-out our new Water Tank Build to get a quote on a custom tank.
Our Water Tank List is located at the top of each page with our current tanks.

MONITORING WATER LEVELS

allow you to monitor the amount of fluid in your water and waste tanks along with the battery power level. Typically only one monitor panel (2 tank or 3 tank) is needed per vehicle/unit and 4 Probes per tank.

To check fluid levels, press and hold the button designated for the tank and read the level indicators on the panel. Sometimes, residue on the sides of a tank, or water with a low mineral content will give a false reading.
Check the levels occasionally when you are sure of a tank’s contents and compare it to the reading on the monitor panel.

4 Probes per tank needed

3/8" drill bit needed Measure and mark installation points before drilling. After drilling be sure to remove any burs from hole. Do not over-tighten probes.

Tank harnesses included with monitor panel. Customer will need to provide the extra wiring to run from the tank harness to the monitor panel. View wiring diagram for wire gauges ( 20 AWG / 14 AWG)

NSF LOGO

Why is there no NSF logo in the tank?
Class A Customs NSF Letter

Class A Customs was required to remove the NSF logo from all water tanks in June 2020, the tanks continue to be made from the same NSF Certified Materials, built in the same way, built on the same machines, and built in the same building here at Class A Customs. The NSF Company does not allow for end users of NSF Certified Materials to use the NSF logo unless each kind of item that is produced has a certification paid for each year. This would mean every style of tank we make, even though they are made using the same NSF Certified Materials, made in the same process, made on the same machine, we would need to pay to use the logo on each item every year.

All of Class A Customs Fresh/Gray water tanks are manufactured using DOW NSF International NSF/ANSI Std 61 approved Medium Density Polyethylene (MDPE) Resin Because Class A Customs was verified to used and continues to use NSF Certified Materials to build our tanks we are allow to link directly to the NSF website materials page and are allowed to state the tanks are made from NSF Certified Materials.

Your inspector can validate this information with NSF by contacting them directly.
Ask your local Health Department to provide you with a list of water tank manufacturers that have the NSF logo built into the water tank.
To see the tanks in an easier format with measurements and fittings view our Water Tank List (located at the top of each page).

Can I get an NSF logo on my tank?
No. Customer say they will pay to have the logo in a tank however, this would require a mold change, an inspection fee for the specific tank and a yearly inspection fee due to the mold of the tank being changed.

Codes vary by local health departments, not state.
We are not aware of the codes or rules. We are not aware of what tanks or items you need.
  • Ask your local Health Department to provide you with a list of water tank manufacturers that have the NSF logo built into the water tank.
  • Forward the documents and tank information provided on the Class A Customs website to your local health department before purchasing to be sure these tanks will pass your local inspection, this is your responsibility.
  • Class A Customs NSF Letter this letter has all fresh/gray tank sizes, part #'s, measurements and fittings, along with material tank is made from.

WASTE TANK PLUMBING & FITTINGS

NO INLET & NO VENT
Class A Customs Waste Water Tanks only come with the ABS outlet installed, the end user will determine where the inlet and vent will need to be placed and install (parts are not included). End user will need to determine size of grommets/Uniseal to be used based on piping and/or toilet flange pipe size.

are not food safe so can only be used for Gray or Waste Water use they are available in sizes 1.5" and 3", no adhesives are needed for use, can be used with hose clamp.

are food safe and can be used for Fresh, Gray, or Waste Water use, they are available in size .5" to 3", no adhesives are needed for use.

INSTALLED OUTLET
Outlet can not be moved on the tanks.
We sell ABS Outlets that you can replace a damaged Outlet or change an outlet if desired.

3” ABS Female Pipe
1.5" ABS Female Pipe
Due to the smaller outlet a 1.5" ABS is typically used for dirty water from shower, handwashing, dish-washing, but not human waste.
You can use a 3" ABS Outlet and reduce it down to a 1.5"  to use a 1.5" pipe.

do not hook directly to the ABS fittings, the ABS Outlets are female fittings and the dump valves are also female fittings, you will need a pipe to fit inside of the outlet and dump valve in order to make the connection.

From the ABS outlet that is installed in the tank run PVC Pipe or ABS Pipe to the outside of the trailer, a dump valve is added to the piping.

Pipe is connected to the ABS installed fitting in the tank with glue. You do not need to tighten the clamp that is on the ABS Fitting, this is used when the ABS fitting is installed into the tank and does not help secure your piping, over-tightening this clamp will damage ABS fitting and tank
We do not sell glues, example only Oatey 4-fl oz Green PVC/Abs Transition Cement

MOUNTING & BRACING

How do you brace the tanks?
Do you sell mounting straps?
Do you sell mounting brackets?

Some of the Class A Customs Waste Water Tanks are built with a "lip" on the tank. Tanks can be hung by this lip, it is recommended to make a shelf to slide the tank lip into.
You will need to brace the tank on all sides to prevent movement of the tank.

Due to the variety of installations we do not carry brackets or bracing systems. Do Not hang by ratchet strap, this is too thin and will not adequately support tank.
Typical applications include using angle iron to make a track to slide tanks with lips into (example photo above), grate system, machine shop metal brackets, etc.

DO NOT HANG TANKS BY STRAPS - DO NOT HANG BY CLOTH STRAPS

Can I stack the water tanks on top of each other?
Can I put weight on the tanks?
No, do not place anything on the tanks, if you need to stack the tanks you will need a weight bearing shelf between them. A gallon of water weighs roughly 8.34 pounds, so a 40 gallon water tank when full is over 335 pounds in weight.
